About Us

Hi, my name is Tierra and welcome to The Literacy Galaxy. The Literacy Galaxy is a space where teachers can visit for educational resources and learn about best practices to better serve their early childhood aged students. The concept of the Literacy Galaxy began while teaching in the Middle East. As a young kindergarten teacher, I felt that my teaching degree was simply not enough to equip my students with the foundational literacy skills that they needed as young learners. There was tons of research that I had to do to ensure that I was giving my students the best literacy instruction.

Those hours of research ignited my passion for creating assessable literacy resources for early childhood educations to use in my kindergarten classroom. I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a reading specialist. I went on earn to earn my specialist degree in Early Literacy and Reading all while teaching a wonderful group of kindergarten students. Through faith in God, hard work and encouragement from my family, the Literacy Galaxy was created.
