Do your students have trouble associating certain words to beginning sounds? For example, we’ve all had that moment when we were learning about the letter G and you ask students to give you an example of letter G words and someone’s response is “butterfly!”. Don’t worry, I have a tool for you to implement in your journey. I present to you Alphabet Charts!
Ways to use the Alphabet chart:
1. Students can look at the picture and associate the beginning sound with the word
2. Have students cover a blank alphabet chart with letter tiles or magnetic letter to match the beginning picture sounds.
3. Reference the alphabet chart when you are studying the specific letters in your Literacy curriculum. ( I love to play a game with my sounds called, “It sounds like….. When I’m introducing letters. For example, I tell students that this letter sounds like /w/, /w/ whale and then they have to guess the letter.
This alphabet chart will be sure to come in handy! Plus it’s a freebie!!!! 🙂
